The women of By Design Wedding & Event Custom Creations are committed to delivering honest, reliable, high-quality service and advice to all of our clients. We take great pride in our event and wedding coordination skills and promise to treat your special event as if it were our own.

In 2012, By Design’s work was featured in the launch edition of The Wedding Ring magazine (Vancouver Island) and on the Weddingbells website in the ”real weddings” feature. We’ve also partnered with some very talented, local wedding vendors on a new blog series called Untangling Victoria BC Weddings (www.victoriabcweddingtips.com). Check it out!

Katie McLaughlin, WPICC, is co-owner, wedding and event designer, and public relations specialist of By Design Wedding & Event Custom Creations.  She has been in the public relations and communications field since 2005 where she has had the opportunity to plan and execute events – including groundbreakings, media announcements and milestone celebrations – develop communication and media plans, create and edit communications and marketing material and act as a spokesperson. Katie’s most exciting public relations adventure took her to Vancouver where she had the opportunity to work on the 2010 Winter Olympic Games  at the Province’s signature celebration site of Robson Square – the experience of a lifetime.

Katie holds college diplomas in both Public Relations and Business Management.  In 2009 she completed the Professional Event and Conference Management course (levels 1 and 2) at Camosun College.  Her commitment to education and training allows her to stay on top of the latest trends and techniques in the communications and event industry.  In September 2010, she became a Certified Wedding Planner through the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada and has loved helping couples plan their special day!

Katie prides herself on her great attention to detail, ability to multi-task, successfully work on tight deadlines, and quickly connect with her clients. She’s also incredibly organized and has become the “it” girl of By Design for all things business-related. She’s calm, focused, organized, funny and is committed to making sure your special event runs smoothly and successfully.

Brittany French, WPICC, is co-owner, wedding and event designer, and decorating guru for By Design Wedding & Event Custom Creations. Brittany has a passion for everything traditional – especially when it comes to weddings – but she prides herself on indulging in all of the newest trends and techniques of the wedding industry so she can plan and deliver the type of wedding you desire. Brittany has an eye and talent for decor, and has quickly become By Design’s decor go-to girl!

Brittany also holds a diploma in Business Management where she focused on Marketing and Management and has completed Level 1 of the Professional Event and Conference Management course at Camosun College. Brittany was one of the first Greater Victoria wedding planners to receive her wedding planning certification through the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada, in March 2010.
